A powerful method for regaining control over grief is setting aside designated time to grieve. Set a timer for 15 minutes, immerse yourself in poignant music or memories, and allow yourself to fully experience the emotions. My choice of song was “My Immortal” by Evanescence. Once the timer goes off, consciously shift your focus back to the present, knowing that you have taken an important step in healing.
By taking control of our grief, we can gradually find solace and healing. As we begin to heal, we regain the ability to focus on ourselves, nurture our relationships, and move forward with renewed strength and purpose. Embracing our grief, rather than filling the void, allows us to become the best version of ourselves.
